Limp Bizkit（软饼干）于1994年成立于佛罗里达，乐队融合了金属、朋克、说唱等元素，和Korn（科恩）、Rage Against the Machine（暴力反抗体制）等乐队同为眼下“现代金属”的杰出代表。乐队由主唱Fred Durst、贝司手Sam Rivers、吉他手Wes Borland（后为DJ Lethal接替）、鼓手John Otto组成。
乐队最初的风格是在为House Of Pain的最后巡演做嘉宾时形成的。当乐队风格从Hip-Hop向摇滚转变时，Fred Durst这样解释说：“Rap 中80%的鼓声来自于以前的摇滚唱片。那些废话连篇、说我变‘白’了或是说我最好继续搞Hip-Hop的人真他妈的应该好好检查一下他们的采样都是从哪里来的！”
乐队的首张专辑《Three Dollar Bill,Y’all$》于1997年发行，被新一代MTV摇滚乐迷所接受，销量超过150万张。在Ozzfest 、Warped以及Family Values等巡回演出时惊人的现场表演——霹雳舞、豪华的背景幕——也大大提高了他们的声望。在这一时期，Durst 不断在公众面前出现，并在Korn（科恩）和Soulfly（飞灵魂）的专辑中客串演出。他还担任了自己的唱片公司Flip的A&R经理主管。
接下来的一年里，热门曲 Take A Look Around 被选作Tom Cruise的电影《Mission: Impossible 2》（谍中谍 II）的主题曲。《Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water》发行后直登美国榜的首位，延续了乐队的优秀成绩。Limp Bizkit在欧洲地区的先头部队也获得了成功，2001年1月，”Rollin’”占据英国单曲榜榜首两周。
